Alex Budden

Alex Budden is an experienced and highly skilled advisor to senior government (ministers and ambassadors) and corporates (boards, CEOs, and executive teams) managing complex issues in challenging environments and highly regulated sectors.

His 21-year career as a diplomat in the British government saw him serve in Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kenya, the Indian sub-continent, Canada, and the Balkans, where he dealt with a wide range of issues including energy and climate change, extractives, conflict and security, and trade and investment.

He moved into the energy and extractives sector in 2012, serving as Vice President of External Relations for Africa Oil and subsequently Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Lundin Energy. He then worked as Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Harbour Energy, the UK’s largest oil and gas producer, advising the Board and CEO on the creation of a new Public Affairs, Government Relations, and Communications function. Most recently, he was Chief Sustainability Officer at Adriatic Metals, where he led both the Sustainability and Government & Public Affairs functions, working with the CEO and Board to manage wider reputational, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement issues.
