Ria Sanz is a seasoned global executive with experience in the mining, manufacturing, construction, private healthcare and banking sectors. She has been a member of the executive committees of four publicly listed businesses. She has advised public boards, CEOs and executive colleagues on governance, risk, sustainability, compliance, corporate finance /mergers/acquisitions, litigation/regulatory and legal matters. She has led multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams globally for more than twenty years and mentored senior leaders for the past decade.

Ms Sanz is known for her strategic and commercial mind, her integrity and collegiality. She has been entrusted by her chairs and CEOs with sensitive board and executive matters. Her increasing responsibilities have extended beyond the typical remit of a general counsel. She has worked extensively in Africa, South America, North America, Europe and Australia. She has significant regulatory expertise having worked for companies listed on the JSE, TSX, NYSE, ASX, LSE, and in the Ghana and PNG Stock Exchanges.

Ms Sanz has been recognised as one of the “Women GCs Who Are Transforming The Legal World,” according to The Corporate Counsel and an honouree in the 2017 Transformative Leadership Awards, GC of the Year as well as making regularly the Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Africa as well as in Australia. She was also selected for the 2018 edition of the “Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining”.
