Marlow is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Rich as Senior Consultant and Advisory Board Member. Laura will work closely with Founder & CEO Simon Wolfe as well as the growing team to enrich our client offering and broaden our geographical remit further from Europe to Africa and Latin America. Laura’s experience in the extractives industry at senior management and operational levels will significantly strengthen our ability to deliver in emerging and frontier markets – as well as continuing our approach of taking rigorous legal practice to wider advocacy for clients.
Laura Rich acts as a senior advisor to investors, boards, executives, and management teams across a wide range of jurisdictions on legal, regulatory, corporate development, finance and strategic affairs. As well as broad international corporate experience, Laura has formed part of various management teams and has significant experience in the day-to-day management of complex business and operational matters affecting the mining industry and wider extractive industries, including environmental, social and governance matters, risk management, stakeholder engagement and dispute resolution.
In a governance context, Laura has a detailed and practical understanding of international corporate governance regimes and the expectations of investor and shareholder advisory firms. She also has experience in navigating shareholder and wider stakeholder activism activities.
Laura’s professional achievements have been recognised across several areas over recent years. These include: the award for Deal of the Year (United Kingdom) in Finance Monthly’s 2019 M&A Awards, the award for Arbitration, Dispute Resolution and Mediation (United Kingdom) as part of the Women in Law Awards 2019 by Lawyer Monthly, and Securities Lawyer of the Year (United Kingdom) by Finance Monthly Legal Awards 2019. She was also named in-house individual of the year for litigation at the Legal 500 UK Awards 2019.
Simon Wolfe, Founder & CEO said: “Laura is a force to be reckoned with as a legal practitioner, as a problem solver and as a values-driven businessperson. She has helped to resolve some of the most intractable problems facing the mining industry in the last few years and we will benefit immensely from her forthright and practical advice.”
Laura Rich, Senior Consultant and Advisory Board member said: “It is an honour to be invited to join the Marlow Advisory Board. I look forward to supporting the firm in its execution of innovative and complex mandates across a variety of international jurisdictions. Marlow’s strategic approach provides significant opportunities for the firm and clients alike and I am excited to help the team take such opportunities forward.”
About Marlow
Marlow is an agile and creative strategic advocacy and campaigns firm. We run political, legal and issue-based campaigns globally, with a particular experience in emerging and frontier markets. Our history and founders are seasoned international lawyers and political campaign strategists who are used to working with complex issues in challenging operating environments. Each campaign’s focus is to truly understand the client’s issue or goal and develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure a solution. We typically work with governments, corporates or their advisors such as law firms.
We have advised on, or run, dozens of campaigns on every continent (except Antarctica – although we are open to it!). Typically, our campaigns involve multi-jurisdictional elements, and we are comfortable working in developed, emerging and frontier markets.
