Marlow is pleased to announce the appointment of John Hughes as Chair, and Anton Mifsud-Bonnici to Marlow’s inaugural Governance Board. John and Anton will advance the firm’s growth as key advisors to Managing Director Simon Wolfe, ensuring its governance and strategy align with the firm’s purpose.
John Hughes is a Non-Executive Director with a specialism advising on risk mitigation and the management of strategy & governance internationally. He sits on private and public sector Boards and acts as a coach to numerous executives. This followed a long career in BP as an expert in non-technical risk & external affairs; complex government affairs, strategic problem-solving, the provision of independent advice to executives and the development of international teams. He had roles in the UK, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. He has Chaired Advisory Boards, Audit, and Strategic Risk Committees. At the moment his other non-exec roles include Ofsted, the London School of Economics, Abkons, and Community Schools Trust.
Anton Mifsud-Bonnici is a Mediterranean EU-based business advocate and ESG master strategist. He is a thought leader on governance issues with extensive multi-stakeholder management and responsible extractive industry standards experience. He has advised governments and investors over a 25-year period in emerging and developing economies on projects and sites. Early in his career Anton co-authored the 1992 Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. And he saved many lives in conflict and genocide zones in Europe and Africa. At the moment his other non-exec roles include Abkons Consulting and Crystol Energy. Anton is also an unpaid advisor to civil society organisations dedicated to good governance, gender equity and human rights in Mozambique, Sierra Leone, DRC, Bosnia and Yemen. He is a graduate of the University of Malta and of Columbia University.
John and Anton will advise and assist Simon to align the firm’s governance and strategy with the firm’s purpose – while managing the growth of the firm in both old and new markets and ensure the firm’s guiding principle to provide dynamic solutions to complex problems guides our client and stakeholder engagements.
